Kathleen Cowan BSc RTT(T) RIHR

She is a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist that provides counselling for couples and individuals. She is also an Advanced Clinician in Imago Relationship Therapy and a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrics’ and Psychotherapists (OACCPP). She has been in private practice since 2003. 

In the helping profession of oncology since 1993, Kathleen held a long standing career in the medical radiation sciences with positions at Sunnybrook Medical Centre in Toronto and the BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver. Her contribution to the University of Toronto/Michener Institute in integrative medicine and inter professional collaboration promoted leadership and empowerment of both her students and the development of the faculty. Kathleen’s extensive psychotherapy training at the Transformational Arts College in Toronto provides a holistic approach to clients, utilizing experiential techniques that maximize personal growth and awareness. 

Personally trained by Maureen Brine R.N., I.C.A.D.C in Toronto (who was formerly trained by Harville Hendrix Ph.D. founder of Imago Relationship Therapy), Kathleen received a wealth of experience while practicing as an associate. The conscientious mentoring and coaching at Maureen Brine and Associates Ltd. provided a rich and effective skills-based approach to working with couples and individuals. 

Kathleen creates a safe environment, using her sensitivity and intuition to assist her clients in becoming re-connected to themselves, their partner and the world around them. Her philosophy is aligned with the Imago concepts and theory: that our journey is to seek wholeness; and crisis and conflict are merely opportunities for growth and healing. Her personal experiences provide insight and hope to her clients, in moving them beyond their hurts and frustrations and arriving at a place of more freedom and happiness.  

She found Imago Relationship Therapy through her own trials and tribulations of being in relationship. Utilizing the Imago processes and dialogue on a consistent basis, Kathleen and her partner Robert continue to enhance their relationship, maximizing its full potential. In her professional work and private life, Kathleen is dedicated to empowering, educating and inspiring couples and individuals to live their lives with conscious intention, joy and passion.
